Artist Biography:
Dr. Lee
Born in 1966 in Icheon city, nestled in South Korea's Gyeonggi province, young Hyunn witnessed his homeland's dramatic transformation during the post-Korean War economic renaissance. As mountains surrendered to excavation, rivers yielded to dams, and factories painted the skies with industrial hues, a profound conviction took root in his heart: preserving nature's splendor was as vital as economic prosperity.
Dr. Lee's true calling remained dormant but undimmed. In the twilight of his distinguished career, he finally allowed his authentic self to emerge as oils met canvas in a brilliant liberation of spirit.
Dr. Lee's artistic journey began years before in solitary pilgrimages across Korea's varied landscapes. Self-taught through careful observation and reverence for natural beauty, he developed a distinctive style that captures tranquility and serenity—qualities perhaps informed by the deliberate patience required in the operating theater.
Today, Dr. Lee's second life flourishes in Chicago's elite artistic circles. His works grace the prestigious Design Center at the Merchandise Mart and command attention in River North's exclusive showrooms. Beyond the city limits, Wisconsin's discerning collectors seek his paintings at the esteemed Gallery Lake Geneva.
Each brushstroke reveals what his true talent never fully glimpsed—the profound peace that flows when a soul finds its genuine purpose. In retirement, Dr. Lee has discovered that healing takes many forms; sometimes it happens one canvas at a time.
